Everyone is entitled to expect a work environment that is free from discrimination, harassment and a hostile attitude. As we all know, that's not always a reality, unfortunately.
Three female employees who worked for an Omaha-based delivery company are suing the company in federal court. Two of them accuse their former manager of sexual harassment, while one says she was paid less because of her gender.
One woman says she was sexually harassed almost immediately upon being hired as a customer service representative in January 2010. The manager would apparently make inappropriate comments about her body and also asked her to have sex with him. She claims she was ultimately fired for reporting the behavior to her direct supervisor the month after she was hired.
Another employee claims in her lawsuit that the same manager made inappropriate comments and advances shortly after she was hired as a night supervisor. According to sources, the lawsuit contends that she feared for her safety and contacted the operation's manager. She was allegedly forced to resign after that.
As for the third lawsuit, yet another employee, this one a former vice president with the company, claims she was discriminated against because of her gender. She reportedly filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, alleging she was paid less than her male counterparts. She claims at one point, she was given a pay cut, while male employees who did the same thing got raises.
It was not exactly clear what form of damages the three employees are seeking. The manager did not comment on the lawsuits.
