Starting a new job is exciting. You have the potential to advance your career, meet new people and get a fresh start. Unfortunately, however, it may not turn out quite how you expect. For one Florida teacher, her expectations were dashed when she encountered sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. Now she's filed a lawsuit against her school district and two men who worked for it.

The 29-year-old woman was reportedly hired by the Lee County school district in 2008. She says she was sexually harassed by her school's athletic director and a security guard. She claims one would make inappropriate comments, talked about sexual acts and invited her to have sex in a classroom.

The other allegedly made suggestive comments about her and talked about what he wanted to do to her sexually. According to the woman, she tried to resolve the matter herself first. She and a co-worker apparently asked the men to stop. But it didn't. She says the behavior constituted a hostile work environment.

According to News-Press.com, the teacher made two complaints to her school district in October 2009, to no avail. She says the district did not punish the men at all and did not even respond to the situation. To top it off, her contract with the district was not renewed for the next school year. The reason for that was not entirely clear.

The security guard was eventually fired by the school board, while the athletic director was relocated. Even though he apparently has a criminal history including a conviction for felony aggravated battery, he was still employed with the district.

The woman is seeking at least $75,000 in damages.
